TSAC-F cost, home session or test center
The handbook lists one exam price, with no separate charge for the online session. What differs between a home session and a test-center seat is everything around the exam: equipment, travel, and the rules that can turn one registration fee into two.

The price in one line
Exam price: $300 NSCA member / $435 nonmember, as of October 27, 2026 (handbook, p. 10). Membership: NSCA Professional membership $130 a year, Student $70 a year; members pay the lower exam price. Joining first saves little for a professional, $430 against $435, and more for a student, $370 (our arithmetic). For the other four exams’ prices and three years of renewal, see certification cost.
Home session or test center
At home, on Pearson OnVUE
No travel and no shift to swap, but the setup is yours: a computer with administrator rights, webcam, microphone and speakers, a stable high-speed connection and a private room (handbook, pp. 11 and 14). A locked-down work laptop may fail, because check-in starts with installing the OnVUE app; the handbook suggests running Pearson’s system test before you schedule. Only US residents can choose this.
At a test center
You need the trip there and back, and perhaps a day off. Some centers sit on military bases and are closed to the public, so check the list before counting on the nearest one (p. 11). In exchange you can take an unscheduled break, with the clock running, and you get the full range of accommodations; online, the only one is extra time (p. 10).
Fees you can avoid
- Booking window: Year-round; you have 120 days from registration to sit the exam, with one 120-day extension for $100. The extension has to be requested inside the first window and is not refunded (p. 11).
- Rescheduling late: changes are free up to one business day before the appointment; change it later and the appointment is treated as missed, with the fee lost (pp. 11–12).
- Ending an online session: leaving the computer, not accepting the nondisclosure agreement within ten minutes, or an ID that does not match your registration all end the session, and you register and pay again (pp. 13–14).
- Withdrawing: possible while no appointment is booked, and you get a refund minus $50 (p. 11).
After you pass
Renewal: $65 for members, $90 for nonmembers, for each NSCA credential held (prorated for people certified after 2023). Deadline for the current cycle: Dec 31, 2026. Holding the CSCS too: One set of CEUs covers every NSCA credential you hold; 1 contact hour = 0.1 CEU. The fee, though, is charged per credential.
